D-Squared
with special guests
The Springfed Band
Friday, January 18 - 8:00 P.M.
Coconino Center for the Arts

With the unique combination of harp and guitar - among other instruments - Deb Gessner and Don Charles form the dazzling duo, D-Squared. Natural storytellers with a sly wit, D-Squared weaves a tonal fabric of poignant lyrics, earth-rooted melodies and stark, hypnotic rhythms.
"D Squared has discovered a whole new breadth of expression... Deb Gessner’s harp interweaves gracefully with Don Charles’ guitar and vocals to create a new sound on the face of the singer-songwriter scene. The result is a stark and hypnotic landscape of sound." - Jo Morrison, Folk Harp Journal Review.
Opening act for D-Squared is the Springfed Band, featuring Tony Norris, Bill Burke, Fred Coon, Megan Buchanan, and Elena Gonzales. Norris is the group's guitarist and lead singer, and is the founder of Flagstaff Friends Of Traditional Music. For more information about Tony, visit his website. Bill Burke plays old time clawhammer banjo and mandolin. Fred Coon has a vast repertoire of mountain songs and plays a unique two-finger style of banjo. Megan Buchanan lived in Ireland many years and brings her warm voice to the Celtic and Appalachian tunes. Elena Gonzales, an award winning classical violinist, applies her considerable talent to mountain fiddling with the group.
